RO – Water Plant

Back

People living in the villages of Bhamini Mandal, Srikakulam district, and surrounding villages have been infected with Diarrhoea, Dengue, Typhoid and Malaria due to drinking contaminated water in the rainy season. This puts a lot of financial burden on the villagers for treatment and medicines. GVS observed this problem and planned to build an RO plant to provide clean potable water.

The RO Plant was set up in 2016 with the financial support of CCL Products Ltd, Hyderabad. It provides 20 litres of fresh drinking water at a nominal cost of Rs 5. Soon, people from the surrounding 17 villages started using the facility. In the year 2017, to ensure automated delivery, a coin box system was integrated to this facility. This enabled the villagers to come at any time and get fresh water, thereby increasing the consumption of clean drinking water. Today, the RO water center is functioning systematically and sustainably.
