Fresh air, pure drinking water, and a peaceful environment are some of the key resources needed for survival. In today’s scenario, river water is not suitable for drinking. Also, in the catchment areas of river Vamsadhara, within Kotturu and Bhamini mandals, the facility of wells and borewells is limited. |
Development of education is one of the main indicators for the development of villages. Usually, students in villages rely on the bare minimum facilities provided by their public schools. Also, after they return home from school, they face many difficulties like small houses with poorly lit rooms, uneducated parents who cannot extend academic support, and constant disturbances from TV serials etc. These issues are enough to demotivate the students in their studies. This is the plight of students in remote villages of Kotturu and Bhamini mandals in Srikakulam district. Grameena Vikas Sangham (GVS) has taken up the responsibility of bringing about a CHANGE! |
Agriculture is the base for the growth and economic development of any village. About 90% of families depend on it. But, ever since the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides started, the agricultural lands have become infertile. The agricultural produce is getting contaminated with chemicals. These agricultural products in turn are severely affecting public health. Poverty, agriculture loans with higher interest rates, chemical fertilizers, etc. are weakening the rural agricultural sector. Taking these scenarios into consideration, traditional cow-based agricultural methods must be encouraged to bring back the lost fertility of the soil. |
The natural conditions that are fundamental for life and survival of mankind and other living beings is called environment. The conservation of the environment has been an integral part of our Hindu way of life. Therefore, GVS has recognized it as one of the primary elements in rural development. |
Spirituality is very important and includes a sense of connection to something bigger than us. To keep this sense of spirituality alive, every year the students of Vidyarthi Vikas Kendras celebrate festivals like Ugadi, Sankaranti, Rakshabandhan and Saamuhik Deeparadhana in traditional way. |
