Nutrition Food Centers |
Anemia and irregular growth caused by malnutrition are serious problems in our country. According to the 2015-16 NFHS 5 Survey, over 70% of young girls and women in rural India have been suffering from anemia. Having studied this problem, GVS has identified that the malnourished children are inactive and irregular to school. As a solution to this, GVS determined to provide proper nutrition to children. The GVS-run Vidyardhi Vikasa Kendras started providing nutritious food to students in Kadumu village in 2011. With the financial support of MCKS Food for the Hungry Foundation, Hyderabad; they started serving pellets made of jaggery, peanuts and sesame, three days a week. Later, using quality material, GVS made arrangements to prepare these pellets in the villages. Now, 1500 students from 22 villages are being regularly fed with nutritious food. As a result, there is a sharp and significant rise in the number of active and regular school goers. |
