A lot of used household water and sewage was on the roads in the village of Kadumu, in Kotturu Mandal due to the lack of drains. This led to malodour, breeding of mosquitoes and outbreak of diseases. Also, the stagnant water near the drinking water hand pump used to cause an unpleasant smell around.

GVS identified this problem and built 4 sewers in the village with the financial support of Bharath Vikas Parishad, Visakhapatnam. The area near the hand pump was flattened with cement and connected to a drain. As a result, the mud, sewage and odour problem were solved. The villagers had the opportunity to make good use of the fresh water from the hand-pump.
